To start the From the Ashes DLC in Kingdom Come Deliverance, you need to have completed the main quest “A Woman’s Lot” and have access to the town of Pribyslavitz. Once you have access to Pribyslavitz, the DLC will automatically start and you will receive a quest to become the bailiff of the town.Yes, u should start a new game - there was a big functionality update in Nove 2019 that may cause problems with ur existing save. Of course, ur save might load, and then after making a new save everything should be good. Remember to check/update ur mods - the better ones changed with the big update, and some others are now junk.

This is best used while still playing the main story and side missions. It’s really not great after you done everything else since you don’t need a lot of money.
To make the village self-sufficient (I mean, providing minimal profit) you need to first build the basics. To do that you need to first: Build woodcutters for 2500. Build a road and bridge for 4000. Build a trader for 4000. Get supply of grain - cheapest from Samopesh for 80. So this costs 11500 payable once and ~325 per day in costs.
